    I was thinking last night. What would happen if you just ran 60:1 premix in both the oil tank and the gas tank in a TPI bike? Theory being that it wouldn't matter if the oil pump failed because all the fuel is mixed. Obviously there might be concern of clogged injectors, but is that really a think with a 60:1 mix with high quality 2 stroke oil? Just a thought.

      Yes, my stock 2024 300 EXC TBI had very poor fuel economy (worse than a carb bike). But with the TSP map, fuel economy is very reasonable and similar to a TPI. Bike runs really well now with the TSP mods (map, medium compression head and oversized PV cover).

    Hey so quick update on the PinIT racing version of this. Did a couple mountain single track rides here in UT so high elevation and I could not tell a single difference so IMO these are snake oil... buy at your own risk but I advise just spending that money on a fresh tire and more gas for riding!

    • @TokyoOffroad

      I can't comment about the Pinit Racing version. Regarding the TSP PV cover, as I showed in the video they have done dyno testing and the difference is clear, so definitely not snake oil. The TSP tune with medium comp head were night and day difference compared to stock.

    • @TokyoOffroad

      Are you asking about draining the 2-stroke oil from the tank and how to clean/replace the oil screen? It's covered in the KTM Repair Manual in the Lubrication Section. The method is to remove the throttle body, remove the oil pump, drain oil from the tank, remove the rubber boot on the bottom of the oil tank and the oil screen will come out of the bottom of the tank.

      Personally I'm not a fan of using gasoline to clean foam air filters as I found it hardens the foam and breaks the filter down, significantly reducing the life of the filter. Besides which kerosene is a lot cheaper than gasoline where I am. And engine oil doesn't tack up, drips and makes a big mess.

    I bought a TSP head for a 23 KTM 250 XC that I planned to build. I ended up selling that bike still in the crate and purchasing a 300 XC. I emailed TSP with the original invoice and ask if I could return unopened and still in the box and exchange for a head for the 300. I had no problem paying any shipping charges and any differences in price. They never acknowledged or responded to my request. a whole lot of ktm/husky riders have an aftermarket exhaust, race head and tuned ecu and/or maps. a lot of ktm/husky riders mostly chase gains due to the emissions and possibility of much more power with it with the dreaded emissions. either way power delivery will still be different in any application and will improve low to mid range by some margin.

    I need to find where mine is pissing the pressure out from

      Sorry to hear about the problem. Unless you can see a leak somewhere the most likely cause is the in-tank filter/pump assembly. If the filter is old it's a good idea to replace it (worse case the filter body can split) and check the the fuel pump runs OK.

    Dump the TPI and buy a TBI or carbureted bike with premix. If it ain't smoking it ain't getting lubed.

      I did. I currently have a 2024 KTM 300 TBI EXC with oil injection deleted and running premix: 2024 KTM 300 EXC TBI- Oil Injection Delete ua-cam.com/video/f4vbqygAFkk/v-deo.html

      @@TokyoOffroad Right on. There's a reason ktm stopped using tpi and oil injection. I'm a professional motorcycle technician and have seen so many blown up tpi bikes.

      @@mikecronan550 - I do know some people value the convenience of oil injection, which is probably one of the reasons KTM left it on the 2024 XC-W & EXC models. The other reason of course is reduced emissions. Personally I'm not a fan of 2t oil injection and prefer the simplicity, performance and reliability of using premix. TBI thankfully makes the oil injection system delete easy as unlike TPI injection relocation is not required.

    Question for you...did you happen to try the bike with only the ECU re-flash to see if that alone was a huge improvement? The thought being that maybe you wouldn't really need the higher compression cap/insert.

      No, I installed the TSP medium comp head at the same time. For sure the low end burble (due to over richness) would have been solved by only changing to the TSP map. But the stock head insert design really isn't that great (squish band design is very slack). If you do want to try the TSP head, you have two choices: Purchase the full head (which has slightly improved cooling compared to the stock head cap), or purchase only the TSP head insert which is the same as in the full head kit, but use the KTM stock head cap. I'm still very happy with mine. Smooth and linear power. I just got a TSP PV cover (larger volume than stock) which increase bottom and mid power slightly. I'll make a video about it...

    Who the heck uses NM??

      @TokyoOffroad 17 днів тому

      Nm is used in every country other than the US. I'm located in Japan and lbf ft torque wrenches are not widely available. KTM torque specs in the manual are in Nm, with lbf ft shown in brackets.

    What elevation are you measuring this at? And riding. Thx!

      I did mention in the video that I did the measurement at 25m above sea level. I typically ride sea level up to about 1,500m

    Could we use the special little tool blue to block the clutch?

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad 16 днів тому

      I don't think so. It's designed to lock gear teeth. The inner hub doesn't have any teeth. I made my own clutch holder tool, but similar holder tools are available cheaply.
